Barcelona KIA’08 starts with 10 Top-60 world ranked players
The sixth edition of the tournament in the David Lloyd Club Turó until Sunday 15, presents its most competitive draw.
On Saturday at the David Lloyd Club Turó, the Barcelona KIA’08 tournament starts, presenting the most competitive draw of its history. Ten players from the top 60 ranked players and some of the most promising names in world tennis, such as Carla Suárez, recent quarterfinalist at Roland Garros, will take part in the Spanish International Championships of Feminine Tennis.
The player, from the Canary Islands, will try to maintain the level she displayed in Paris to compete for the title as one of the seeds, a condition she shares with the Russian Kirilenko (ranked 23) or the Czech Cibulkova (ranked 31), the Valencian Anabel Medina (ranked 33) and the late entry, the Israeli Shahar Peer, 18th in the world and top seed in Barcelona.
With Peer’s incorporation, the draw for the sixth edition of Barcelona KIA’08 is the most competitive yet. Along with the players already mentioned the audience at the David Lloyd Club Turó will be able to enjoy the play from the other top 60 players like Safarova, Parmentier, Garbin, Zakopalova, Gallovits, Errani or Pironkova.
Apart from Medina and Suárez, the tournament has great Spanish representation with the participation of Núria Llagostera, Lourdes Domínguez or María José Martínez among others.
Before the favorites begin, the qualifying rounds are played. They will be held over the weekend and are free entry for all audiences
