The BARCELONA KIA’08 is the most important feminine tennis tournament that takes place in Spain.
In 2007 the tournament was converted to Tier IV Sony Ericsson WTA Tour status, with the highest prize money in its category, 145,000$ USD.
For 2009 the objective is to continue growing and gain promotion to the B category, which means the presence of the Top Ten international players and prizes of 225,000$ USD.
This year, like last year, the tournament will have international television coverage, with spectators expected to beat the almost 300,000 viewers of last years final, shown on TVE2.
